Spiaggia Solanas is where vivid dreams of a south Sardinian beach life come true. This is an absolute must-see beach if you’re planning to stay near Geremeas, Torre delle Stelle, or Villasimius. With a length of nearly 1000 meters, it is one of the longest beaches near Villasimius. Solanas faces southwest, with lovely views of the headlands of Capo Boi and the sun-streaked waters of Golfo degli Angeli (Gulf of Angels.) The west side of Solanas (in the direction of Cagliari) is backed by a laid-back seaside village with the same name in the municipality of Sinnai. It’s a small, well-developed residential area with several supermarkets, restaurants, and holiday accommodations. Near Via Su Portu, you’ll spot a small car parking area with space for just a few cars. Behind the middle of Spiaggia Solanas is where the ample car parking is located. It has a capacity of approximately 150 vehicles, which is often more than enough to cover high season demand. From the parking lot, it’s just a 30-meter stroll to the white sands of Solanas! The most natural and arguably the prettiest part of the beach is to the east in the direction of Porto Sa Ruxi. This slice is backed by small dunes, south Sardinian shrub, and several dusty footpaths that lead to the top of Capo Boi and its ancient watchtower (Torre di Capo Boi.) Some of the maquis nearly reach into the sea, and the outskirts of this pocket are dotted with weather-beaten rocks where the snorkeling is good, so bring a mask. At Caribbean-style Solanas, sunbeds and umbrellas are available for rent, and occasionally, a vendor will pass you by selling clothing, bracelets, and inflatables for the young ones. When it comes to ice cream, there shouldn’t be any supply issues either…
Breakfast & Lunch at Tiki Beach
For breakfast, lunch, drinks, and snacks, go to Tiki Beach, a well-equipped beach bar near the parking lot in the middle of Spiaggia Solanas. Here you’ll find everything you need for an all-day beach stay. There’s a terrace with tables and chairs, even a few sofas and benches for extra comfort. Small pets are allowed here. There’s plenty of choice of seafood dishes on the menu, including fried calamari and filet of salmon. Vegetarians will appreciate Tiki’s poke bowl. Recommended!
